One seamless system, four ways to use it

Resin-bound stone is naturally rounded aggregate blended through a clear UV-stable resin and trowelled out on site into a smooth, joint-free surface — beautifully suited to driveways, patios, pool surrounds and pathways. Pick the project that fits, and we'll walk you through the finish, the depth, the base build-up and the honest fine print. Servicing Geelong, the Bellarine & the Surf Coast.

One UV-stable system Seamless & joint-free Permeable over a suitable base 5-year written guarantee

Context images on this site are indicative renders to show finish and setting — not photographs of completed Terralume jobs. We're a new local business, so we'd rather bring real stone samples to your place than overstate what we haven't built yet.

One material, done properly

Why the same surface works for all four

Every project above is the same core idea: naturally rounded ~2–5 mm kiln-dried aggregate, bound flush in a clear two-part aliphatic (UV-stable) polyurethane and trowelled smooth on site. What changes between a driveway and a garden path is the depth, the base build-up and the blend — not the system. Get those three right for the site and the surface behaves the same wherever it's laid.

  • Seamless and joint-free — no pavers to lift or rock, no gaps for weeds, no loose stone tracked indoors.
  • Permeable when laid over a permeable, open-graded base — water drains through rather than pooling, subject to site & council approval.
  • UV- and colour-stable resin that resists yellowing — chosen for the long, bright Geelong summer rather than the cheapest tin.
  • Low-maintenance — an occasional rinse and the odd top-up is the routine, not annual re-sanding or re-laying.
Why Terralume

The difference is in how it's specified and laid

Resin-bound stone only performs as well as the base beneath it and the care taken on the day. Here's where we put the effort — and what that means for the surface you live with afterwards.

01

The base is designed for your site

Soil, slope, drainage and how you'll use the area all shape the build-up underneath. We size the base and the depth to suit — not a one-size spec — because that's what keeps the surface flat, firm and free-draining for the long run.

02

UV-stable resin, by choice not by accident

We specify a two-part aliphatic polyurethane because it holds its colour outdoors. Cheaper aromatic resins yellow in sunlight; we don't use them. Every value is confirmed against the product TDS for your chosen blend.

03

Mixed and trowelled by a trained crew

Resin-bound is mixed in measured batches and worked while it's live — there's a window, and skill in the trowel. Consistent batching and an even hand are what give you a flat, uniform finish instead of patchy colour or weak edges.

04

The fine print is in writing, up front

Depth, base, blend, cure times and what's covered all go in a fixed written quote — backed by a 5-year written workmanship guarantee. No vague "permeable" promises, no surprises after the truck leaves.

From first call to finished surface

A clear, four-step process

No pressure and no guesswork — just a straight path from "we're thinking about it" to a surface you can walk on.

1

Free site assessment

We visit, measure up, check your base and drainage, and bring real stone samples so you can see and feel the blends in your own light.

2

Fixed written quote

You get the spec in plain English — depth, base build-up, blend, cure times and price — with the 5-year workmanship guarantee in writing. No obligation.

3

Prep & install

We prepare or build the base, then mix and trowel the resin-bound stone on site into one seamless, joint-free layer at the right depth for the job.

4

Cure & handover

We confirm the day's cure timings on site — typically foot traffic in ~6–8 h, light vehicles in ~24–72 h, full cure around 7 days — and leave you simple care notes.

Cure times are indicative at around 20 °C and stretch out in cold or winter conditions. "Open to traffic" is not the same as "fully cured" — we never rush a cure to hit a date.

What every install comes with

An honest standard, on every job

We're a new business with no completed jobs to point to yet — so instead of stars and numbers we can't back up, here's what we actually put in writing.

Built on 5-year written workmanship guarantee Installed by trained crews Permeable build-up over a suitable base Manufacturer-backed UV-stable resin

Permeability is a property of the whole build-up and depends on site conditions and Greater Geelong City Council approval — we never claim "100% permeable" or "no puddles". All technical values are indicative and verified against the product TDS/SDS on every job.

Good to know

Common questions, straight answers

The questions we hear most when people are weighing up resin-bound stone for their place. For the full build detail, see how it works.

Is it the same surface whether it's a driveway or a path?

It's the same system — naturally rounded ~2–5 mm kiln-dried stone bound in a clear two-part aliphatic polyurethane and trowelled smooth on site. What we change for each job is the depth, the base build-up and the blend: thicker over a stronger base for driveways, a little shallower for patios, paths and pool surrounds. The look and feel carry across all four.

Is resin-bound actually permeable?

It can be — but permeability is a property of the whole build-up, not the resin alone. Laid over a permeable, open-graded base it drains freely; laid over a sealed concrete slab it does not. Real performance also depends on your soil, slope and discharge point, and on Greater Geelong City Council approval. We design the base to suit your site, and we never claim "100% permeable" or "no puddles".

How deep is it, and will it crack?

We lay at about 18–24 mm for vehicular areas like driveways and about 15–18 mm for pedestrian areas like patios, paths and pool surrounds, over a base sized to the job. Because it's flexible and joint-free, resin-bound stone resists the cracking and weed-filled gaps you get with rigid pavers or plain concrete — provided the base is sound, which is exactly why we design it for your site.

How long before I can use it?

At around 20 °C you can typically walk on it after about 6–8 hours, drive a light vehicle on it after about 24–72 hours, and it reaches full chemical cure at around 7 days. Cold or winter conditions lengthen all of these. "Open to traffic" is not the same as "fully cured", so we confirm the day's timings on site and never rush a cure.

Can you lay it over my existing concrete or asphalt?

Often, yes — a sound, stable slab can make an excellent base, and overlaying it can save time and cost. Note that laying over sealed concrete means the surface won't be permeable in that area; if free drainage matters to you, we'd build a permeable open-graded base instead. We assess what you've got at the free site visit and tell you honestly which path suits.

What does the 5-year guarantee actually cover?

It's a written workmanship guarantee covering the quality of our installation. The UV-stable resin is separately manufacturer-backed. We put the exact terms in writing with your quote so there's no ambiguity — what's covered, for how long, and what to do if something isn't right.
