Indoor–outdoor living

One continuous surface, house to garden

Resin-bound stone is mixed and trowelled on site, so your patio reads as a single, flowing floor rather than a grid of pavers or slabs. Laid flush with thresholds, paving and decking, it carries the line of your living space out into the courtyard — no lip to catch a toe, no grout lines to scrub and nothing to rake back into place.

It's a warm, tactile finish that suits alfresco dining, courtyards and entertaining areas alike — quiet underfoot, easy to furnish and beautifully consistent in colour from edge to edge. Because every batch is hand-mixed to the same ratio and laid in one pass, there are no mismatched slabs, no cold joints and no awkward cuts around a downpipe or garden bed — just one clean, deliberate surface that makes a modest courtyard feel considered and a large entertaining area feel calm.

  • Smooth, level surface ideal for outdoor furniture, dining and entertaining.
  • Sits flush with paving, decking and garden edges for a true indoor–outdoor flow.
  • Easy to sweep and hose — weed- and crack-resistant through the seasons.

Why resin-bound for patios

Comfortable, consistent and built for outdoor living

A patio earns its keep year-round — walked on barefoot, sat on, dined on, dragged across with furniture and left out in everything a Bellarine summer and a Surf Coast winter can throw at it. Resin-bound stone is well suited to all of it. Here's what makes it work in a courtyard or alfresco setting.

Seamless underfoot

Trowelled to a continuous, joint-free finish that's comfortable to walk on barefoot and easy to set a table or lounge on — no rocking pavers, no trip edges.

Slip-resistant texture

The rounded ~2–5 mm aggregate gives a naturally textured, slip-resistant surface — confident underfoot in wet weather, without the loose gravel of a scatter-coat.

Colour that stays true

Bound in a two-part aliphatic (UV-stable) resin and consistent edge to edge — so the blend you choose looks the same across the whole patio and resists yellowing in the sun.

Drains freely over a suitable base

Laid over a permeable, open-graded build-up, the surface drains freely rather than pooling — so a courtyard sheds a shower instead of holding puddles. (Performance depends on the base and site.)

Low-maintenance & weed-free

No joints for weeds to colonise and nothing to re-sand or re-point. A sweep and an occasional hose-down keeps an alfresco area looking its best.

Shapes to your space

Curves neatly around garden beds, steps, posts and built-in seating — ideal for the irregular shapes of a real courtyard, with crisp edges where you want them and a clean line around every obstacle.

The spec, in plain numbers

Built for foot traffic, laid over a sound base

A patio doesn't carry vehicle loads, so it's laid at pedestrian depth — typically around 15–18 mm — over a sound existing slab or a permeable open-graded build-up. Thinner and more economical than a driveway, with the same seamless, hard-wearing finish. No guesswork and no vague "from" pricing: here's exactly what goes down.

Straight answers

Drainage & cure, honestly

We'd rather under-promise and over-deliver. Two things worth being clear about before you book a patio: how drainage actually works, and what "ready to use" means while the resin cures.

Cross-section of a resin-bound patio: a 15–18 mm resin-bound wear course of rounded 2–5 mm stone over an open-graded permeable base over a compacted sub-base or sound existing slab, with rainfall draining down through the layers.

Permeability is a property of the whole build-up

A resin-bound patio is permeable only when it's laid over a permeable, open-graded base and sub-base — then rainwater drains through the surface to the base rather than pooling. Over a sound but non-permeable existing slab, the same finish looks identical but isn't permeable; surface water is directed to falls and drainage instead.

So we say a patio drains freely over a suitable base — never "100% permeable", "no puddles" or "drains instantly". A permeable build-up is generally WSUD-friendly (Water Sensitive Urban Design, per Melbourne Water / Victorian guidance), but any approval is subject to your site and the Greater Geelong City Council.

  • Permeable route: open-graded base & sub-base — water drains through to the ground or an approved discharge point.
  • Over existing concrete: bonded to a sound slab with no demolition — handsome and seamless, but not permeable.

What to expect after we lay it — cure timeline at ~20 °C

~6–8h

Walk on it

Open to foot traffic — but it isn't fully cured yet, so go gently.

~24–72h

Furniture back on

Light loads and outdoor furniture can return as the surface firms up.

~7d

Full chemical cure

The resin reaches its full hardness and strength right through.

Cold & winter installs

All of the above lengthen in cooler weather — we plan around it.

"Open to traffic" is not the same as "fully cured." The times above are a conservative buffer over the resin manufacturer's TDS minimums at ~20 °C, and they stretch out in cold or winter conditions. We'll give you clear, written timings for your job before we start.

Why trust us with your patio

New business, old-fashioned standards

We're a specialist resin-bound surfacing business, not a general landscaper adding it as a sideline. That means trained crews, a written spec, honest drainage talk and a guarantee you can hold us to — and the discipline not to fake what we haven't earned yet.

01

One trade, done properly

Resin-bound stone is all we do. The crew that quotes your courtyard is the crew that lays it — trained on the system, working to a written method, not learning on your patio.

02

Specs we'll stand behind in writing

Depth, aggregate, resin type and base build-up all go in your quote — and every technical value is checked against the product TDS/SDS on the day, not lifted from a brochure.

03

Honest about drainage and cure

We say a patio "drains freely over a suitable base", never "100% permeable" or "no puddles". And we tell you that being open to traffic isn't the same as fully cured — because it isn't.

04

A 5-year written workmanship guarantee

Plain-language, in writing, handed over at completion alongside a simple care guide — so you know exactly what's covered before you commit.

Reviews coming soon. We're a new specialist business and we'd rather show you real, verified homeowner reviews than invent them. As we complete our first patios across Geelong, the Bellarine and the Surf Coast, we'll publish genuine feedback here — names, locations and all. No paid placements, no stock photos, no made-up quotes.

Good to know

Patio & courtyard FAQs

A few of the things homeowners ask us most about resin-bound patios.

Can you lay a patio over my existing concrete?

Often, yes. If your existing slab or paving is sound, level and well-drained, we can bond the resin-bound wear course straight over it at pedestrian depth (~15–18 mm) — no demolition needed. Note that laying over a non-permeable slab gives you the same seamless look but not permeability; surface water is directed to falls and drainage instead. If the base is cracked, hollow, soft or badly out of level, it may need repair or a fresh build-up first. We assess the base at your free site visit and put the recommendation in writing.

Is it slippery when wet?

The naturally rounded ~2–5 mm aggregate gives a textured, slip-resistant surface that stays confident underfoot in wet weather — a key reason it suits patios, alfresco areas and courtyards. It's far less slippery than smooth tiles or polished concrete, and unlike a loose scatter-coat there's no gravel to skate on. As with any outdoor surface, keep it clear of moss, leaf litter and algae build-up so it stays at its best.

Will the colour stay consistent and fade-free?

The blend is mixed to a consistent ratio and trowelled to an even depth, so the colour reads the same from edge to edge — no patchy slabs or mismatched batches. We bind the stone in a two-part aliphatic (UV/colour-stable) polyurethane chosen for sun exposure, which resists the yellowing you get with cheaper aromatic resins. Resin chemistry is indicative and verified against the product TDS/SDS on every job.

Does a patio really drain, or will I get puddles?

Drainage depends on the whole build-up, not the resin alone. Over a permeable, open-graded base a resin-bound patio drains freely — water passes through the surface rather than pooling. Over a sound non-permeable slab, the surface isn't permeable and water is taken away by falls and drainage instead. We design the build-up to suit your site, but we won't promise "no puddles" or "drains instantly" — performance always depends on the base, the falls and site conditions, and permeable-paving approval is subject to the Greater Geelong City Council.

How soon can I use the patio after it's laid?

At around 20 °C the surface is typically ready for foot traffic in about 6–8 hours, with furniture and light loads back on after roughly 24–72 hours. Full chemical cure takes around 7 days — being open to traffic isn't the same as fully cured, so we ask you to go gently in that first week. Cure times lengthen in cold or winter installs, and the timings we quote are a conservative buffer above the resin manufacturer's TDS minimums.

How much maintenance does it need?

Very little. Because there are no joints, there's nothing to re-sand or re-point and nowhere for weeds to take hold. A regular sweep and an occasional hose-down keeps it looking fresh; for stubborn marks, a gentle wash does the job. We hand over a simple care guide at completion, and the workmanship is backed by our 5-year written guarantee.

How does it compare to pavers, tiles or plain concrete?

Pavers and tiles look great on day one, but the joints between them collect grime, grow weeds and can shift or rock over time — and a single cracked tile is an awkward repair. Plain concrete is hard-wearing but flat, grey and prone to surface cracking. Resin-bound stone gives you the warmth and texture of natural aggregate as a single seamless surface: no joint lines, no weeds, no rocking, and a softer, more refined look than a poured slab. It's a mid-to-premium finish — generally dearer than basic concrete and competitive with quality paving once you account for the labour-free upkeep.

What does a resin-bound patio cost?

It depends on the area, the condition of your existing base and the build-up your site needs — which is exactly why we don't publish a misleading "from $X/m²" headline. After a free on-site assessment we give you a single, fixed, itemised written quote covering the chosen blend, the ~15–18 mm pedestrian depth, any base preparation or new build-up, and the 5-year guarantee. The price you're quoted is the price you pay, with no vague estimates and no surprises mid-job.

Will it handle Geelong winters and coastal weather?

Yes. The aliphatic polyurethane resin is UV-stable and weather-resistant, and the bound stone surface copes well with rain, frost and salt-laden coastal air across the Bellarine and Surf Coast. The main weather consideration is installation, not durability: cure times lengthen in cold or wet conditions, so we plan winter and shoulder-season jobs around the forecast and give you realistic, written timings before we start rather than rushing a pour that needs warmth to cure properly.
