Turf & soft landscaping
A lawn that establishes evenly and drains properly — because we prepare the base the way we'd prepare it under a surface. Natural turf or quality synthetic grass, plus garden beds, edging and planting, across Geelong, the Bellarine & Surf Coast.
Images on this page are indicative renders to show finish and style — not photographs of completed Terralume jobs. We're a new local business and we'll never present an AI render as a real job. Real product samples and references are brought to every quote.

2 ways to do it right
The right lawn for how you live
There's no single best lawn — there's the right one for your yard, your budget and how much upkeep you want. We lay both, prepare the base properly for each, and tell you honestly which suits your space.
- Natural turf. Cool, soft and alive — great value to lay, ideal where you'll water and mow. We prepare the soil profile so it roots in evenly.
- Synthetic grass. Green all year with minimal upkeep, brilliant in shade or high-traffic spots — laid over a compacted, free-draining aggregate base with proper edging.
- Soft landscaping. Garden beds, edging, mulch and climate-suited planting to finish the space, not just the lawn.
- Honest advice. We'll tell you where synthetic gets warm in full sun, or where natural turf will struggle — before you commit, not after.

How a Terralume lawn is built up
You can see why we think like a surfacing crew: a lawn lives or dies by what's under it. Here's the typical approach — confirmed for your site, soil and drainage.
Graded, free-draining base Soil or aggregate to suit Drainage designed in Clean edge restraints
- Prepare & grade. Clear, level and grade the area with proper falls so water moves where it should.
- Base to suit the turf. A quality topsoil profile for natural turf; a compacted, free-draining aggregate base for synthetic.
- Drainage where needed. We design drainage into the base on sites that need it, rather than hoping the lawn copes.
- Lay, edge & finish. Turf laid tight with staggered joins, clean edging to beds and paths, and clear establishment care for natural lawns.

An honest word on lawns. A natural lawn is a living thing — it needs watering-in and a few weeks to establish, and we'll give you realistic care notes rather than promising instant perfection. Synthetic grass is low-maintenance but not no-maintenance, and warms up in full sun. We'd rather set the right expectation than oversell either one.
Common lawn & garden questions
Straight answers on natural vs synthetic, drainage, establishment and tying the garden into your surfacing.
Should I choose natural turf or synthetic grass?
It depends on how you'll use the space. Natural turf is cooler underfoot, cheaper to lay and looks and feels alive — but it needs water, mowing and establishment care. Quality synthetic grass is green year-round with almost no upkeep and handles shade and heavy foot traffic well — but costs more up front and gets warm in full sun. We'll give you an honest read for your yard, budget and how much maintenance you actually want.
Why does the base matter so much for a lawn?
For the same reason it matters under a driveway — what's underneath decides the result. Turf laid on poorly prepared, compacted or badly drained ground stays patchy, holds water and fails at the edges. We prepare a properly graded, free-draining base with the right soil profile (for natural turf) or compacted aggregate (for synthetic), so the lawn establishes evenly and lasts.
Will the lawn drain, or will I get a swamp after rain?
That's a base-and-grading question, not a turf question. We set falls and, where needed, drainage into the base so water runs to where it should instead of pooling. Free drainage also depends on your site, so we'll design the build-up to suit your block rather than promise it'll never puddle.
How long until I can use a new natural lawn?
Newly laid natural turf needs to root in. As a guide, keep traffic light for the first couple of weeks and water it in well while it establishes — more in summer. Synthetic grass can be walked on straight away. We'll leave you with clear, realistic care instructions for whichever you choose.
Can you do the garden beds, edging and planting too?
Yes — that's the soft-landscaping side. We can prepare and plant garden beds, set clean edging between lawn, beds and paths, lay mulch and bring in plants suited to the Geelong climate. Tell us the look you're after and we'll scope it with the lawn.
Does turf tie in with resin-bound paths or epoxy areas?
It does, and that's a reason to do them together. Planning the lawn, the surfacing and the edges as one project means the levels, falls and transitions line up properly — a crisp edge between lawn and a resin-bound path, for instance, rather than two trades meeting awkwardly. We can quote the whole outdoor space.

Reviews coming soon
We're a new local business, and we'd rather show you real, verified turf & landscaping reviews than invent them. As we hand over our first projects, genuine customer feedback goes here — names, suburbs and all.
No paid placements, no stock photos and no made-up quotes. Until those first reviews land, the best measure of our work is the spec we put in writing and the plain-language guarantee we stand behind — both of which you can hold us to.
Want a lawn that actually lasts?
Tell us about your yard — the space, the light, how you'll use it and whether you're leaning natural or synthetic. We'll prepare the base properly, talk drainage and upkeep honestly, and put it in a fixed written quote backed by our 5-year written workmanship guarantee.
